So many reasons to join! Read whatever you want this summer - books, magazines, graphic novels, manga, and even audiobooks - and win awesome prizes! For every 100 pages you read, get a ticket and enter it into the prize drawing you want! Just think, read a 500 page book or five 100 page books and get 5 tickets! Visit Wood Library and check out the display case piled high with prize packs that contain your favorites like Anime, Sephora beauty products, Family Guy, Halo, fast food coupons, Target, Walmart, and Eastview Mall gift cards, and popular books. And don't forget about the Grand Prize this summer - a Flip Video Camera! Registration required.

Snap some great shots this summer and enter them into Wood Library’s Teen Photography Contest! Photos will be judged by Rikki Van Camp, photo journalist from Messenger Post Newspapers, Peter Blackwood, freelance photographer, and Canandaigua Middle School Art Teacher, Sally McKenna. Photos will be judged on overall photographic and artistic quality. Traditional photography as well as digitally altered images are allowed. Winner will receive a gift certificate to Finger Lakes Gallery and Frame to have his or her winning photo framed. Award reception held on August 10. The High Strung - Monday, June 30, 7:00 PM
For the past five years the quirky, carefree, energetic music of Detroit’s The High Strung has been electrifying patrons across the nation with the sunny three-part harmonies and witty,
lyrical bravado. This year the guitars that accompany the band’s catchy sing-along choruses are roaming the country again and are headed to Wood Library on Tuesday, June 30 at 7 PM. In addition to playing a full-set of their rousing Beatles-esque jams, concert goers will learn what
it’s like to tour year-round and what sort of enthusiasm it takes to maintain such faith in your art. With a new album coming out on Park the Van Records in spring 2009, The High Strung will perform a mix of favorites and new tunes, as well as writing and performing a new song at the library with the help of the audience. All ages welcome to attend. This organization is supported in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program, which is administered locally by Phelps Historical Society & Phelps Arts Center. A “Let’s Hear It!” Wood Library program.
